

The final curtain has closed and the last sunset has gone down over the west shore in the life of Nancy Jane Bethune on Saturday, February 7, 2015. At the age of 82 has peacefully gone into the hands of god to be with her beloved husband William John (Bud) Bethune. She is survived by her loving sons Steve (Brenda) of Ottawa and Tim (Emily) of Peterborough, her sister Barbara Diamant (Nicholas) and her brother Gordon Mylks (Dawn) both of Kingston. Loving grandmother to Adam Bethune of Ottawa and Maddisyn Bethune of Peterborough. Loving aunt to Stephanie Diamant of Picton, Jody Diamant of Ottawa, Daphanie Diamant of England, Andrea Diamant of Brussels, Julie Mylks of Kingston, Christine Mylks of Kingston, Gordon Mylks of Kingston and Emily Mylks of Hamilton. Step-grandmother to Nicole (Brett) of Ottawa, Robert and Roger both of Peterborough. Nancy was very active in the community, volunteering and dedicating her time with the Peterborough Theatre Guild, Family YMCA Gymnastics Program and Community Care (Foot Care Clinic). She was always devoted to her family and loved them dearly. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her. May she rest in peace and be at ease now that her pain is gone. The family would like to thank Dr. Gibson, the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Community Care Access Centre, Reverend Kevin Derry, and staff at Trinity United Church, the doctors and nurses of the ER and of the B4 wing of the PRHC for their support and care during Nancy’s struggle.
The family will receive friends at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 360 Reid St., Peterborough for a Memorial Service on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior.
