Neil Christopher Jones

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Christopher Jones, age 62, of Rexdale, Bolton and Peterborough. Neil left us far too soon after a brief battle with lung cancer, leaving behind family, friends and countless people whose lives he touched.

Neil was a kind, generous and hardworking man with a wonderful sense of humour and a warm heart. He seemed to make friends wherever he went. His smile, unmistakable twinkle in his eyes, stories, laughter and familiar “Get ’er done” became part of what made Neil so special.

Neil’s working life reflected his determination and perseverance. His journey with Rexdale Printers began at just 13 years old, sweeping floors. He learned the business from the ground up and eventually became its proud owner, operating Rexdale Printers for more than 30 years.

In semi-retirement, Neil found great enjoyment working in turf maintenance at Lora Bay Golf Course. He loved being outdoors, cutting grass and watching the sunrise. He treasured his summers near Georgian Bay, first at his cottage and later in his glamping travel trailer with Marilyn, surrounded by lifelong friends and a community he quickly embraced.

Neil also discovered a love of woodturning, creating beautiful wooden bowls and an ever-growing collection of snowmen that will remain treasured reminders of him.

Giving back was an important part of Neil’s life. He was a proud member of the Bolton Lions Club for many years and dedicated his time to helping his community. Wherever Neil went, he was generous with his time and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Neil was extremely proud of his sons, Christopher and Jackson, and grateful to Marg, their mother, for giving him the two boys he loved so dearly. He shared a special bond with his sister, Kathryn Wild, and loved her dearly. He will also be lovingly remembered by his devoted companion, Marilyn. After 32 years apart, Neil and Marilyn found their way back to each other, and the years they shared brought them both great happiness. He often called Marilyn the love of his life, and together they cherished the time they had.

Neil was predeceased by his father, Harold, and his mother, Helen (Nee Telford).

Neil leaves behind a lifetime of memories, friendships and love that will live on in all who knew him. Above all, he will be remembered for his generous heart, his infectious smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his ability to make everyone feel like a friend.

Get ’er done, Neil. You will be loved and missed always.

Neil’s sons will hold a public celebration of life at the Albion Bolton Community Centre at 11 AM on Saturday, September 19th. The service has been arranged to provide an opportunity for family and friends to gather together while allowing those travelling from out of province to return home. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in the Georgian Bay area.
