Unexpectedly passed away, on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Julius Meyer. Loving mother of Karen Ryan (Doug), Megan Crown (John), and Aimee Evans (Brian). Proud Nannie of Kealan, Maike, Casey, Justin, Samuel, Madeline and the late Evan.
Fondly remembered as a bright, kind and caring woman. Born in Sudbury she was proud of her family and French Canadian Heritage. In her childhood years her family moved to the Peterborough area to farm in North Monaghan and later Indian River. As a child she displayed a remarkable vocal talent, performing at various local events, choirs and on the radio of the 1930s. As a young women, Olive was a secretary for the High Commission of Canada in South Africa. While in South Africa, she met the love of her life Julius. They lived briefly in Julius's home country Germany, then returned to live in Canada to raise their 3 girls. Olive enjoyed a family focused life including skiing, sailing, cooking and family dinners. She gave generously of her time to the New Canadians Centre, the Care Center and the Calvary Penecostal Church.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at COMSTOCK-KAYE Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1 p.m. In memory of Olive, donations to Community Care Peterborough would be greatly appreciated by her family.
