It is with deep sadness that the family of Pat Bested announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the age of 94.
Pat was an avid reader, knitter, bingo player and loved to fish. She was the go-to person at family functions with her homemade pies, tarts, and devilled eggs. She, along with her husband Bob (d. 2014), owned Bob and Pat’s Cottages on the Indian River in Keene. Pat drove her school bus for many years, getting children safely to school.
Pat is predeceased by her husband Bob (Robert), daughter Ann Caldwell, brother Alan McNerney and his wife Norma McNerney and brother Danny McNerney.
Missing mom are Jim Bested (Donna), Michael Bested (Helen), Patty Willis (Ken) and son-in-law Allan Caldwell. Grandma to Lori (Jeff), Jennifer (Jamie), Stephanie (Dave), Michelle (Kai), Liana (Trevor), Rob and Jessica (Jake). Great-grandma to Kaitlin, Cole, Reid, Hunter, Mateo, Raphael, Mace, Leia and Drew. Pat’s sister Barbara Kendry will miss her dearly. Nephew Glen Voycey was considered another son to Pat.
Pat’s family wishes to extend a very sincere thank you to her excellent caregivers at St. Joseph’s At Fleming, particularly the staff of the Woodland/Creekside ward.
Friends & family will be received at the Ashburnham Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 840 Armour Rd., Peterborough on Wednesday, September 9th from 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm, with the funeral service commencing at 12:45 pm. Reception will follow at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be held at Upper Keene Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
