Phyllis is reunited with her beloved husband, Morris Chard, who predeceased her.
She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her love and unwavering devotion: her sons, Peter Ballantyne (Edna) and Ralph Ballantyne (Leanne); her treasured grandchildren, Danielle Ballantyne, Tonia Ballantyne, Nicole Ballantyne, Josh Ballantyne, and Chris Ballantyne; and her dear brother, George Heard. She will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Growing up on the shores of Chemong Lake, Phyllis developed a lifelong love of the water and could often be found swimming whenever she had the chance. She embraced life with enthusiasm, whether she was dancing the Twist with joyful abandon, getting lost in the pages of a good book, or listening to her favourite country music.
Above all else, Phyllis treasured her family. Some of her happiest moments were spent shopping, travelling, sharing meals, or simply sitting together talking and laughing. She possessed a wonderfully wry sense of humour that kept everyone smiling and always on their toes.
At her home in Trent River, Phyllis found great happiness in caring for the birds, turkeys, chipmunks, and squirrels that gathered outside her window. Her family often joked that she was like a Disney character, surrounded by the woodland creatures she so lovingly fed and watched.
Phyllis never forgot a birthday and made sure each celebration included her one-of-a-kind rendition of “Happy Birthday”—a tradition her family will forever hold close to their hearts. She was strong, resilient, and remarkably tough, never one to complain, yet her strength was always matched by a gentle kindness and caring spirit.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home. She was famous for baking the most delicious apple pies, and there was always a hearty meal waiting for whoever happened to stop by. Her generosity, warmth, and open door made everyone feel welcome.
Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the countless memories she created will remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy is one of strength, compassion, generosity, and unconditional love—a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished.
