Phyllis Noreen Mac Martin

Beloved mother of the late Lyle MacMartin (2019).

Phyllis will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law Fiona Donald, her sister-in-law Isabel MacDonald, her nieces Brenda McKeown, Linda Gomez, and Shirley Gallinger and her nephew John MacDonald.

Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Mina MacDonald, her brothers Stanley, Gordon, Kenneth, and Fraser MacDonald, and her niece Sharon Fordham.

Phyllis was born on the family farm near Pattersons Corners, Ontario on March 29, 1925. Following a loving and active upbringing, she moved to Peterborough to start her adult life. The work ethic, loyalty and service to others that she learned in her early years carried with her throughout her life. Phyllis was a dedicated employee of General Electric for 28 years, building many friendships along the way.

Retirement did not slow Phyllis down. A devoted volunteer, Phyllis gave her time generously to causes that mattered deeply to her. For over 20 years, she drove cancer patients for treatment to Kingston and Oshawa for the Canadian Cancer Society and also delivered meals through Meals on Wheels in Peterborough. Phyllis was also an avid euchre player and enjoyed the euchre games hosted in the Peterborough surrounding areas.

Phyllis was a faithful and active member of St. Stephens Presbyterian Church. She cherished her volunteer and fellowship time with her church family.

Phyllis was able to live independently in her own home until the age of 99. Many heartfelt thanks to her friends and neighbours who helped to make this possible. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to her friend Hennie Tiesma, the Royal Gardens Retirement Residence staff and Dr. Kathiravelu for their compassion and care.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 18th, 11 am at St Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Peterborough with a luncheon to follow.
