It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Rick Letford on Thursday July 31, 2025. A much loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Donna, daughters Kelly, Kris Chappell (Rob), Mickey Campeau (Al), and grandchildren Jesse (Sean), Clay, Jake and Nick.
Rick was happiest in the company of his family, sharing stories of his many adventures, planning roadtrips, enjoying long walks with his dog Ollie, and nagging us all to update to the latest versions of technology.
He was born February 21, 1944 in Brockville, son of Tom and Edith, and brother to Tommy (Grace).
Rick met Donna at Playland Park in Brockville when he crossed the dancefloor to ask the blonde banker's daughter beside her to dance. His timing was off and he ended up dancing with Donna instead. On August 13 of this year, they would have celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Rick began his career with the Royal Bank in Ottawa in 1969. His work with RBC took the family to several cities over the years, where he built lasting friendships, before eventually retiring in Peterborough, ON. Beyond his career, Rick found great joy in giving back through volunteer work with community organizations, including Camp Kawartha, Kiwanis, and others close to his heart.
We would like to thank Dr. Hughes, Rick’s cardiologist for more than 40 years, for his exceptional care, as well as the team at Kawartha Cardiology. Our thanks also go to Dr. Dickie, Dr. Brien, and the caring staff at the Peterborough Clinic and to all the compassionate staff at PRHC who cared for him along the way.
In keeping with Rick's wishes, a private family service will be held. For those who would like to honour his memory, donations to the Peterborough Humane Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
