Bob was born on January 22, 1941 in Peterborough, Ontario to Alexander Black, of Glasgow, Scotland, and Mae Black (nee Anderson) of Douro, Ontario.
Bob shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandra “Sam” Black (nee Friesen). Together they built a life filled with family, friendships, laughter, and countless memories.
He was predeceased by his parents, his son Scott Andrew Black and his siblings, John “Jack” Black, and his sisters, Alma McGregor, Jean Scott, and Helen Crampton.
Bob also leaves behind his children, David Black (Julie), James Black (liisa), Carol Howard, and Kristy Black; and his grandchildren, Alexander (Kayla), Emily (Joe), Brianna, Zoey, and Kaleb. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. His faithful dog, Bentley, will undoubtedly miss his constant companion.
Bob built a successful career at Trent Metals, Ltd., where he began in sales and, through hard work, determination, and his natural ability to connect with people, worked his way up to become a part of the ownership group. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built throughout his career.
To know Bob was to know laughter. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. He loved telling stories, entertaining a crowd, and was always ready to belt out an Elvis tune whenever the opportunity arose. Whether he was catching up with friends at the golf club, enjoying lively conversations, or making everyone around him smile, Bob had a way of turning ordinary moments into memorable ones.
An avid golfer at PGCC Bob treasured the friendships he built on the course over the years. At home, he enjoyed settling into his favorite chair with a crossword puzzle or a good book while looking out over Black’s Bay, a view he loved. He rarely missed cheering on the Habs and the Jays and appreciated life’s simple pleasures, especially time spent with family and friends.
Bob will be remembered for his warmth, infectious sense of humor, generous heart, and the joy he brought to those around him. His stories will continue to be retold, his songs remembered with smiles and his love for family and friends will remain an enduring part of his legacy.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Bob’s memory are invited to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
A celebration of Bob’s Life may be held at a later date.
We will miss your stories, your songs, your laughter and the way you made every gathering a little brighter.
