Ronald James Thompson

Ronald James Thompson passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Ron took his final trip around the sun on July 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, grace, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Ron lived a life defined by kindness, humility, and generosity. He approached each day with quiet strength and treated everyone he met with respect and warmth. Whether as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, or friend, Ron's greatest joy came from the people who surrounded him.

Ron is survived by the love of his life, Mary Frances Thompson, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. He was a proud and devoted father to his son Dean (Jay) and daughter Deanna.

He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Lexi (Colton), Olivia Sarah (Kyle), Justin, Lauren, Meredith, Raegan, and Isabella. Ron took immense pride in his role as Great Papa to Jean, Violet, and Adeline, whose smiles brought him endless happiness.

Ron was predeceased by his sister Carolyn. He is survived by his brothers Paul, John (predeceased by his wife Margaret), and his sister Mary Jayne (predeceased by her husband Hans).

He was a cherished brother-in-law to Don and Peggy Sagriff, Bob and Nancy Sagriff, Theresa and Don Pagett, and Jennifer Anne Hannon, and a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff of St. Joseph's at Fleming Long-Term Care, whose compassionate care brought comfort to Ron and his loved ones. A special thank you is extended to Ron's close friend Sandra for her friendship, kindness, and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at one of Ron's favourite places, the Peterborough Curling Club (2195 Lansdowne Street West, Peterborough, Ontario), from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather to share memories, stories, and celebrate a life well lived.

Though Ron's journey has come to an end, his kindness, wisdom, gentle spirit, and deep love for family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
