Susan Jane Hill

She was born on January 24th, 1952, to Frank and Sylvia Kammer. Raised by her Grandmother, Cornelia McMahon, she lived a full life. Growing up in Gravenhurst she won All Ontario in Gymnastics, she was also a Cheerleader, LIfeguard and Swimming and Gymnastics Instructor.

Susan spent her 20’s living in Toronto managing the lounge at the Skyline Club and the Regal Constellation Hotel. After several years living in Toronto she returned to Gravenhurst and later married Wayne. Gravenhurst is where they chose to raise their family. She and Wayne opened the Red Lion in the 80’s, creating a space in Gravenhurst to build great friends and memories. In the 90’s she spent her days as the Bookeeper for Percy Graves’ law firm. In her later years she was the ‘Business Office’ for Wayne’s Totem Poles and Carving Classes.

Susan is survived by her loving husband Wayne of 44 years, her Daughter Rebecca (Ryan), and son Matthew (Kylie) predeceased by Stacey. Her second true love were her grandbabies. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Kirsten, Mason, Natalie, Emily, Alison, Emerson, and Echo.

Nana, as she was known, dedicated the last several decades of her life to her grandchildren. Leaving memories for a lifetime, of bed time snacks, Nana baking, road trips, boating fun, and matching family jammies and Christmas Eve stockings. Leaving pieces of herself with us in our memories for a lifetime. From her Christmas baking trays, to Roast Beef and Yorkshire Puddings, food was her love language, and there was no shortage for those she loved and cared for.

Nana didn’t want a Funeral. She wished for a Celebration of Life to take place, where family and friends could listen to good music and spend time reminiscing. A Celebration of LIfe will take place in the summer of 2027. Details to come.
