It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Sylvan Quinn Marion Brill - an extremely bright, friendly, and kind kid, with an amazing sense of humour, and a highly contagious smile.
Sylvan’s teachers describe him as a curious, inquisitive student, with knowledge beyond his years. He had so many friends in his school, his Scout troop, and across the Peterborough community.
He was a bright light in the Camp Kirk family – full of fun and silliness that makes camp such a special place.
Sylvan is the loving son of Jessica Barr and Matthew Brill. He will be greatly missed by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There were many causes and organizations that were important to Sylvan, so if you would like to donate in his memory, please consider one of these organizations:

All who love and support Sylvan and his family are welcome to attend his Celebration of Life on Saturday November 22nd at Emmanuel United Church - 534 George St N, Peterborough, ON K9H 3S2.
Service at 1pm in the sanctuary with reception to follow downstairs. Light refreshments will be provided and there will be a play area for children at the reception. Funeral attire not required! Sylvan would want you to wear something that brings you joy and comfort. The venue has accessible options and there are free parking lots and street parking close by.
We have been informed by Emmanuel United that it is a strictly scent-free environment. They require that all guests refrain from using any scented products (including: perfumes, hair products, aftershave, cologne, fragrances, etc.). The only exception may be a small amount of sweetgrass smoke from a smudge before and/or during the service. This information was not included in the original invitation, so please share with others who are planning on attending in person.
We are planning to livestream the service via Zoom, and will be recording it as well.
The Zoom link is: https://tinyurl.com/Sylvan-Celebration-of-Life
(If that link does not work, please try https://uuma.zoom.us/j/93925278400)
At Emmanuel United, we will be asking that priority be given to seating family and close friends. In the event that the sanctuary fills to capacity, we are hoping to have a livestream on a screen in the auditorium downstairs. In the event that the entire venue is at capacity, we hope that those who wish to will be able to use the Zoom link to attend virtually.
