F. Warren Buttars

BUTTARS, F. Warren – Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 81 years of age. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Jibb) for 53 years. Loving father of Coralee Vass (Ken) of Peterborough, Marion Soublière (Phil) of Ottawa, and Arlene Wherrett (Phillip) of Sydney, Australia. Proud grandfather of Darren Vass, Dominique Soublière, and Shannon and Ryan Wherrett. Dear brother of Joyce Buttars of Port Hope and the late Ralph. Warren was a highly valued employee of St. Joseph’s Hospital and served on the Board of Directors for Anson House and Hilliard Park Homes, was an Elder at Knox United Church and Trinity United Church, and managed the East City Community Gardens. Warren and Mary were instrumental in supporting Vinh Pham, Nelson and Phan An and their children Henry and Tony, all formerly of Vietnam, upon their arrival in Canada in the 1980s. Visitation will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, on Sunday, July 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Comstock Chapel on Monday, July 4 at 11 a.m. Reverend Kevin Derry officiating. The family also wish to thank the dedicated staff of Fairhaven, Peterborough, along with Dr. Wilkins, Dr. Beamish and the staff of PRHC’s Emergency, ICU and Palliative Care units. Warren lived a full life, always giving generously of his time and efforts to help others first. He will be greatly missed.
