July 10, 1943 - September 6, 2025 – Peterborough, Ontario
We remember William Gerald Ducker as a proud, devoted man whose life was rich with love, loyalty, and strength. He passed away peacefully at his home in Peterborough, Ontario, on September 6, 2025, at the age of 82.
William lived alone, but he was fiercely independent—strong in body, sharp in mind, and steady in spirit. His work ethic was unmatched, forged through more than 50 years in construction and roofing, where he earned respect for his toughness, precision, and no-nonsense approach. He didn’t take crap from anyone, and people admired him for it. He would tell it like it was, no sugar coating!
His working life began early, setting up pins at Duffus Bowling Alley in Peterborough as a young boy. That job sparked a lifelong love for bowling, and he grew into a powerhouse of a player—competitive, focused, and always ready to roll.
He had a brilliant mind for math, able to calculate faster than anyone—often in his head, without a pause. He had a thing for numbers and time, always keeping track, always thinking ahead. Whether it was measuring a roof, counting cribbage points, or tracking game stats, his mind was always in motion.
He was a passionate sports fan, especially devoted to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in his younger years, an excellent golfer. Though he eventually stepped away from the fairways, he never missed a tournament on TV.
And then there was cribbage—his true game. William was a fierce competitor, so sharp he could count your cards before you laid them down. His love for cribbage was legendary, and he passed that passion on to his three boys—Billy, James, and John—who were lucky to spend countless hours playing with Dad, learning the game and sharing in his joy. Around the board, he was more than a player—he was a teacher, a storyteller, and without question, the King of Cribbage.
He talked a mile a minute—not because he was restless, but because he had so much to share. His stories, his lessons, and his laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
His legacy lives on in the values he passed down, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely. We will miss him deeply, but we carry his spirit forward with pride—in every game played, every roof built, every number counted, and every moment shared in his honour.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Angeline Victoria Ducker (née Hildebrandt) on April 15, 2019; his sister Shirley Ethel Braybrook on June 2, 2015; his infant brother Timothy James Ducker on August 12, 1962; his father Richard William James Ducker on October 22, 2006; and his mother Doris Emily Ducker (née Willison) on May 29, 2008.
Loving Father to Billy (Karen), James (Bonnie), John (Martha).
William was a loving Grandfather to Kile, Joel(Chelsea), Xander, and Skyler and Great Grandfather to Logan and Lavinia.
Beloved Brother to Charles (Gloria), Albert (Irene), Donald (Theresa), Terry (Cathy), Sandra (Norm), Betty, Gloria, Shirley, Sharon (Randy), Debbie (Darrell), and Carol (Mike).
May he rest in peace.
