With heavy hearts we announce the passing away of our beloved mother and grandmother, Beatriz G. Castillo. She died peacefully at home on October 11, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Marlin, Texas on December 9, 1929 to Maria Zamora Garcia and Pablo Garcia. She married the love of her life, Leonardo Castillo on October 15, 1950 and they were blessed with 14 children.
She lived most of her life in Laredo, Texas and later moved to Round Rock, Texas.
She was a loving mother that cared and supported all her family throughout her life. She even helped with caring for great grandchildren in her later years.
She only had a fifth grade education but as one of the "greatest generations" that ever lived, she had wisdom that is not taught at school. She was once featured in the Laredo Times in Laredo, Texas for a Mother's Day special for being a devoted mother and to the fact that she was widowed and raising 14 children on her own. In her last days she was asked what was one of her favorite times of her life and she answered, " All My life" . We will dearly miss her and may her soul rest in perfect peace.
Beatriz is preceded in death by husband, Leonardo Castillo; daughters Magdalena Martinez and Lilia Ruiz and granddaughter, Monique Ledesma.
Beatriz Castillo is survived by her children; Evangelina (Ralph) Vera, Leonardo (Rosario) Castillo Jr, Beatriz (Joe) Villanueva, Sandra Castillo, Hilda Castillo, Lydia (Johnny) Padilla, Cristina (Kenny) Poehl, Sergio (Angelita) Castillo, Rene Castillo, Robert (Estee Wong) Castillo, Rogelio (Marta) Castillo, and Marco Antonio Castillo, as well as nieces, nephews, 36 grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
