

Brookie Janice Wilder was born on April 8th, 1937 to Raymond and Edna Reagan. She grew up in the small town of Lampasas Texas with her parents and younger brother James. Brookie met her first husband, Bob Smith, in Lampasas. They moved to Ft. Worth where she worked for General Dynamics, and she became a “Kennedy girl” during this time. While in Ft. Worth Brookie had her first child, Michael Robert Smith.
After a divorce, she moved to Austin. Through a mutual friend she was introduced to Thomas Winfield Wilder at a coffee shop. Brookie married the love of her life on March 16, 1963. They had twins, Mindi and Wendi, and a short time later another daughter Amy. Brookie worked as a medical receptionist for most of her career. Tom and Brookie had a good life together in Austin and raised their family with love and laughter. Tom and Brookie celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in March 2022.
After a lengthy illness, Brookie left her earthly home to be with her Lord on May 3, 2022. Brookie is survived by her husband Tom of Austin, and her 4 children: Michael Smith and his wife Tsui-chin of Leander and their son Joshua and daughter Sadie; Mindi Sherman and her husband Doug of Round Rock and their sons Brendan and Matthew; Wendi Engstrom and her husband Mark of Round Rock and their son George and daughter Ella; and Amy Wilder of Austin and her daughters Taylor and Madi. She is also survived by her brother James (Bo) Reagan and his wife Marietta of Fort Collins, CO; her nephew James Reagan Jr. of Denver, CO; her niece Taylor Meadows and her husband Eric of Nashville, TN; her cousin Brad Reuther of Georgetown; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

The family will have a small memorial for family and friends at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery in Pflugerville on June 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to your favorite animal shelter or animal charity in her name.
