

Casey Donald Page (Don) passed peacefully from this earth on June 4, 2013. He was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 12, 1933, the son of Bessie Mae Cook and Casey Arnold Page. He graduated from Pascal High School in Fort Worth, Texas at age 16, and then worked as a bookkeeper until he was old enough to join the United States Air Force. His career lasting more than 21 years revolved around flying where he was a tail gunner before being selected for Officer training. After he was commissioned 2nd Lt., he became a navigator first then an Electronic Warfare Officer as a crew member on a B-52 Bomber.
He was promoted several times while serving in six states with Strategic Air Command (SAC) and two overseas duties where he assisted the command staff in Vietnam to plan bombing missions there. He was a combat veteran with more than 2900 flying hours. He retired in 1973 as a Major. He then began his civilian career as an Electrical Engineer. He earned his BSEE Degree from the University of Texas at Austin after completing his military career at the age of 48. He was employed at CPI Microwave as the Operation Engineer, Tellabs, Motorola, Eaton Corporation and IBM.
He distinguished himself in all these roles as well as being active with the Austin Repeater Organization for many years. He was known as K5LSV (London, Sugar, Victor) all over the world especially when he chaired the North Texas Radio Network supporting phone patches (calls from overseas service members). Additionally, Don earned his Commercial Radio License.
Don enjoyed many hobbies and volunteered to serve the public with his knowledge of Ham Radio. One of his prouder moments was giving blood to the American Red Cross where he gave over 13 gallons of his very unique blood. He had the honor to save the life of a baby as his blood was a perfect match which was one in over 100,000 people with this blood type.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; his son Ron Page and wife Karen; his daughter Pam Sullivan and husband Jack. He has four granddaughters, Christina Tokarek and husband Bob, Heather Page, Rachel and Sara Page; and one grandson Lance Gamurot. Don was a hero to our family and we will miss him with all our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Hyde Park Christian Church, 610 East 45th St., Austin. Interment will follow the funeral in the Veterans’ Grounds at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville with military honors.
