Cecil was born on September 20, 1943 in Carmine, Texas to Blanchie and AJohn Harris. Cecil received Christ at an early age at the Independent Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gamble. He attended public school in Carmine, Texas and Austin, Texas.
Cecil was united in marriage to IDella Satterwhite on June 23, 1961 and one child was born to this union, Wanda Faye Harris. Cecil later married Genell Fuller in November of 1967 and one child was born to this union, Cecil Shay Harris.
Cecil worked at Cabiness Brown Furniture alongside his beloved father until he accepted employment with the City of Austin (Water & Waste Water Dept.) where he faithfully labored until his retirement.
Cecil loved his music collection favoring to his blues. You could find him every Monday and Wednesday evening supporting the DJ’s at KAZI. He loved to laugh and joke continuously. Cecil also loved riding his motorcycle and fast cars. Cecil looked forward to spending time with his friends and family members, especially his only nephew, Charles Clemons “Sunshine or Charlie Button” which always brought a huge smile to his face when he said it!
Cecil was proceed in death by his father, Ajohn Harris; mother, Blanchie Harris; and his dear sister, Dorothy Belcher.
He leaves to cherish his memories his Daughter Wanda Reed (Darrell – Bubba ); his son, Cecil Shay Harris; only nephew, Charles Clemons; niece, Ann Johnson; two granddaughters, Christian and Alexis; and two great grandsons, Avery and Nichols.
