

Charles Edwin McDonald of Livingston, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 16, 2014. He was born on August 7, 1943 in Austin, Texas where he grew up and graduated from William B. Travis High School.
Following high school, Charles was able to enjoy his love of baseball, playing with his best friend for the minor league team, known at that time as the Milwaukee Braves. He also loved music, dancing, and playing the guitar. During the 1960's, he played at the Continental Club on Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas, and once was a substitute guitar player for the George Jones Band.
Charles later joined the Army and proudly served his country as a Sergeant (E-5) in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from the war, he started a printing business in Dallas, Texas which he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, then Jackson, Mississippi before finally settling in Houston, Texas. When he retired from printing, he led a very busy social life, participating in many cook-offs throughout Texas and fishing whenever he had opportunity. He spent the last few years building his lake house on Lake Livingston, where he was able to enjoy non-stop fishing.
Charles "Charlie" McDonald left an impression on everyone he met and was known as a great guy and a wonderful person.
Mr. McDonald leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Iva McDonald Nall and her husband Doug Nall of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Ruby Nall; former wife, BJ McDonald of Pflugerville, Texas; mother-in-law (his "MeMaw") Bonnie Sharp of Pflugerville, Texas; and many cherished friends.
The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35 in Pflugerville, Texas. A celebration of his life will begin at 3:30 p.m. Interment services with military honors will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
