Christina Marie Nowacki

Was born on September 13, 1987 in Austin, Texas and passed away January 15, 2020.

She was adopted by her grandparents, Gilbert and Christina V. Nowacki. She grew up in Austin where she attended Joslin Elementary School, Porter Middle School, and San Juan Diego Catholic High School where she was the student body president and valedictorian.

It was at San Juan Diego Catholic High School that she met her husband Trey Matheny. First attending senior prom together, and then began dating the summer after graduation. Their relationship bloomed from there over the years, and they married on June 4, 2016.

She studied at St. Mary’s Catholic University in San Antonio, but decided her passion was skin care. She got her esthetics license and was at the top of her class when she graduated. She and Trey moved around Central Texas. Starting in Waco, then Killeen, Harker Heights, Temple and Salado where they bought their first home on Lake Still house which was always a dream.

Christina worked at Shelley's day spa and salon in Killeen, TX for eight years. Her coworkers and Shelley became a second family to her. She worked her way up; becoming a leader in the Spa department. She mentored and trained other spa employees on skin care services. She was the lead esthetician and one of the top producers in the business. She fixed skin problems on some of her clients who could not get a successful treatment from a dermatologist.

She loved her clients. Working in esthetics was a joy for her because she liked to make people feel better about themselves. She built many long-term relationships with clients over the years. Some she saw weekly for 7+ years. Her clients became her friends and they loved her dearly for how genuine she was.

Christina loved her dogs Regis and Rachelle dearly; they were like her children. She always gushed of how proud she was of her husband, Trey, who achieved his dream of becoming an airline pilot. Together they had a love for traveling and traveled the world together. Going to Italy, France, Panama, Mauritius, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, South Korea, Hawaii, Belize, Singapore, numerous Caribbean islands, and all over the U.S.

Christina was preceded in death by her parents: Gilbert and Christina V. Nowacki; Biological mother Marie Nowacki; Uncle Martin Nowacki; grandfather-in-law Marvin Matheny Sr; and grandmother-in-law Katherine Sander. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Trey Matheny; father-in-law and mother-in-law Marvin and Constance Matheny; grandmother-in-law Dixie Matheny; sister Teresa Verteramo; Aunt Marcia Giovinco; Uncle Mark Nowacki; and Cousin Tara and husband Eric Polonski and their daughters Sascha and Siena Polonski.
