

Born April 27, 1957, in Akron Ohio. David received his formal education, through Grace Elementary, John R. Buchtel high school and Akron University as a Finance major.
His employment led him from Akron, Ohio to Houston, Texas with the Southwestern Bell telephone company. He later gained employment with the Houston Convention Bureau in Security. That employment opportunity transferred him to Austin, Texas. He was immediately employed by the State of Texas in Purchasing and Supply. He advanced in his career to become a top-level certified Purchaser IV and team lead. His duties included handling million-dollar contracts for the state of Texas. In addition, he wrote many of the state policies that are still in place today. Remaining with the state for 20 years, he retired from Health and Human Services in Procurement and Contracting Services (due to health reasons).
Married May 14, 1994, in Austin Texas and celebrated 30 years of marriage. Married life began with a honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico.
David became a Prince Hall Affiliation (PHA) Mason with Mt. Bonnell #2, Austin Texas. He completed Level I, II and III, receiving a diploma from Prince Hall University. He also completed Level I, II and II, in Local Lodge Operations and received a diploma from Royal Arch, Holy Royal Arch State of Texas. And he completed level I, II, and III in the Ordre du Templiers Collegium receiving his Yellow, Associate and Master Scholar certifications. Continuing his masonic advancement, included local to Grand level to receiving his 33rd degree from the United Supreme Council. Just to name a few titles he held: Eminent Grand Webmaster, Honorary Past Master, Super Excellent Master Cryptic Degree. For the female Masonic bodies, he was the first Royal Advisor for Austin Royalty #7 and served as Royal Advisor for Leora ‘O #35 in Austin, Texas.

Hobbies:
David was introduced to Texas Track and Field. He served many years and completed certifications to become a Texas Track and Field Official. He retired (due to health reasons) from Texas Track and Field with Emeritus status.
Also, participated in/wrote poetry with the Neo Soul Poetry Club, Austin, Texas.

20-year Wedding Anniversary – Maui, Hawaii
Most recently, he traveled to Minnesota. There he met a host of relatives, some of whom he was meeting for the very first time.
Lastly, on the morning of September 15, 2024, he has traveled to God’s heavenly arms and gained his angel wings.
He leaves to mourn his wife, two children, two brothers, Ohio, California, Alabama and Minnesota family, and a host of friends and acquaintances.

A visitation for David will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 30, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
