Demetrio Quinonez was given to us on January 23, 1926 and was called back by our Heavenly Father on July 28, 2010. He will be reunited with his bride of 62 years and they will live their life in eternity. He is survived by his 12 children; Mary and Raul Dominguez, Lori and Alonzo Felan, Josie and Paul Palen, Demetrio, Jr. and Josie Quinonez, Andrew and Lupe Quinonez, Nancy and Alfred Rodriguez, Lanell and George Espinosa, Ralph Quinonez, Rick Quinonez. Elizabeth and Johnny Gonzalez, Diana Quinonez and Joaquin Hernandez, Nick Quinonez and his brother, George Quinonez, 35 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucia Pena Quinonez, parents, Demetrio Quinonez, Sr. and Hermanita Quinonez, and his granddaughter, Christene Marie Felan.
Demetrio had a kind and loving heart, and he would never turn away anyone in need. When you came to his home there was always food and drink, and no one would ever go away with an empty stomach. His first love was being with his family and celebrating every event surrounded by loved ones. He had a big loving and serving heart.
Demetrio was an avid collector of clocks. He had them displayed throughout his home. His favorite one was the one with a picture of each of his twelve children representing each hour from one o’clock to twelve o’clock. He also had a passion for gardening. Every season he would look forward to planting his vegetables, big boy tomatoes and hot peppers. He looked forward to having his grandchildren come over and help with the garden so he could teach them his techniques and they could carry on his love of gardening.
He also had a passion for reading his Bible. Over the years he had read the entire bible twice and was on his third time around. His faith was very strong and prayer was a big part of his everyday life. These are just a few of the many wonderful traits that he leaves as his lasting legacy.
Demetrio was loved and cherished by all who were fortunate to have been a part of his life. His smile, his sense of humor and his contagious laugh will be missed by everyone. He will live on in each of us.
