Dorothy was Born on November 3, 1929 in Carmine, Texas to Blanchie and A. John Harris. Dorothy received Christ in her teens at the Independent Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gamble. She attended public school in Carmine, Texas.
Dorothy united with Melvin Clemons and two children were born to this union Charles and Jessie (Punkin). Dorothy moved to Austin, Texas in 1955 and later joined David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Obey. She loved to serve as a Faithful Door keeper.
Dorothy, later married Theodore Roach and to this union one child was born Ann. Dorothy later married Roy Belcher no children were born to this union.
Dorothy joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her dearest cousin, Pastor Earl Harris. She continued to serve as a Faithful Door Keeper for many years even under the leadership of Pastor A.W.A. Mays.
Dorothy worked for AISD until her retirement and the began to work private duty for several families that were dear to her. Until her health began to fail.
Dorothy loved her family she was very close to her only brother Cecil Harris and made a habit to speak to him every day. She loved to cook and was very good at it! She loved to share recipes and to watch her love ones eat until they got tired.
Dorothy often looked forward to road trips and shopping with her dearest friend Faye Wilson. They loved to laugh and talk about their children; they were inseparable until the death of her friend in 2005. Which at that time she continued daily contact, cooking and support to Faye’s Children and Grandchildren especially “My Kedrin” & “My Rev. Ealey” in all of there events until, her health began to fail.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her Father A. John Harris, Mother Blanchie Harris, Daughter Jessie (Punkin), Melvin Clemons, Theodore Roach & Roy Belcher.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her son, Charles Clemons; daughter, Ann Johnson and brother Cecil Harris; grandchildren; Casandra Clemons, Alysia Clemons, Cleo Roach, Charles Clemons Jr., Ebony Johnson, Lesley Johnson & Myeisha Freeman. 12 Great-Grands and 7 Great - Great Grands.
