Floyd honorably served in the United States Army, demonstrating his dedication to his country early in life. He later continued his service to others through a distinguished 30-year career as a firefighter with the Austin Fire Department, where he retired as a Captain; he was known for his courage, reliability, and strong sense of duty. In addition to his service as a firefighter, he was a proud Mason for 52 years and a Shriner for 51 years, reflecting his lifelong commitment to brotherhood, charity, and community.
Floyd and his beloved wife, Jennie, shared over 40 years of marriage, filled with love, companionship, and adventure. Together, they enjoyed traveling across the United States in their RV, creating countless cherished memories and embracing life’s journey side by side. He was a graduate of Manor High School, Class of 1955, and carried the values of hard work and integrity throughout his life.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Frank Barker and Willie Juanita Aldridge Barker; his sister, Delores; his grandson, Matthew; and his son-in-law, Brad.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Jennie Barker; his children, Debbie, Greg (Kindois), Ken (Tracey), and Kelli (Chuck); his grandchildren, Robin (Justin), Jessica (Anthony), Kristen (Rustin),
Jaime (Cole), Wesley, John, and Alyssa; his great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ryan, Jaxon, Mackenzie, Braxton, Brant, Briggs, Madilyn, Layton, and Frankie; and his brothers, Don Barker and Russell
Barker, along with their families, all of whom will continue to honor his legacy and cherish his memory.
Floyd will be remembered for his strength, his service, and the lasting impact he made on those around him. He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who
had the honor of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Floyd’s name to Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston.
