Harold was born in Scott, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1927. He graduated from Carnegie High School, in Carnegie, Pennsylvania and received a Ministerial Bachelor of Arts from Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College), in Knoxville, Tennessee in May 1950, and a Medical Missions Certificate from Platte Valley Bible College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1954.
He was married to the love of his life, Irene Worley on May 30, 1948.
Harold worked in Christian Ministry as a missionary in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico for five years (1954 -1959) and a missionary-teacher at Colegio Biblico in Eagle Pass, Texas for 38 years (1959 – 1997) where he also served as registrar, administrator and Interim President.
At the time of his passing he was a member of Community Christian Church of Round Rock, Texas.
His lifetime passion was for his family and teaching the Bible to young people from Mexico, Central and South America. He loved camping with his family where he would gather with them every year for a week, mostly around 4th of July.
He is survived by his wife of almost 72 years, Irene Worley Gibbs, his five children, Steve (wife Shirley), Richard (wife Anna), Gary (wife Theresa), Vickie (husband Gabriel Segura) and Randy. He is also survived by Joe and Alice Gibbs, his brother and sister-in-law of Annapolis, Maryland. Harold has 22 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Jean Gibbs, his brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy & Eva Gibbs, his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Bill Coffman, his daughter and son-in-law, Raquel and Johnny Reyes.
Because of the circumstances with the covid-19 virus which limits the number of people who can gather, funeral services will be for the immediate family only. A memorial service and celebration of Harold’s life will be held at a later date which will be determined once the current restrictions are lifted.
