Henry Arthur Platt was born on March 19, 1950, in Kinston, North Carolina, to John Henry and Lillie Mae. He peacefully passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 76. Henry’s life was marked by steady love, hard work, and the kind of character that makes people feel safe and cared for.
Henry graduated from Adkin High School in 1969 and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1969. He served his country honorably until 1989. Following his military service, he worked offshore on Mobile oil rigs from 1990 to 1996—years that demanded strength, patience, and perseverance, and years Henry met with determination and responsibility.
In 2002, Henry earned an associate degree from ITT. He continued to build his future and, for many years, served as a Tech Advisor with the Sears service department until his retirement in 2014. Even after retiring, Henry stayed active in all the ways that mattered—always willing to help, problem-solve, and encourage the people he loved.
Henry enjoyed the simple joys that brought him peace and excitement. He liked shooting guns at the range, riding motorcycles, watching Westerns, and reading science fiction. He also enjoyed flying drones and taking care of handyman tasks around his family—because if something needed fixing, Henry was the one you could count on.
Henry will be especially remembered for his love and for the care he gave to those around him. In the comfort of faith, we celebrate the life he lived and the hope we have through God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Alton Platt and Frank Miller; and by his beloved children, Crystal Strothers and Alexander Platt.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Carmen; his brother James Platt; his sister Lillie Bell Taylor; and his granddaughters, Jacoya Randall, and Erica Strothers, along with countless friends and family. His family carries forward the lessons he lived—devotion, strength, and love that shows up every day.
As we mourn Henry’s passing, we also hold close the promises of God and trust that his story is held safely in God’s care.
Henery will be honored with a visitation at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on May 5, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A committal service will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas 76542, on May 5, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
