Herb Meiske, 88, of Mansfield, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2017. Herb was born January 5, 1929 in Williamson County to Otto and Ida Meiske. He graduated from Thrall High School and attended Nixon-Clay College. Herb served 2 years in the Army during the Korean War in Anchorage, Alaska. He then worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in the Traffic Department, retiring after 30 years. Herb was an avid golfer during his years at Berry Creek in Georgetown. He married Rosalie Ryden in 1956, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They have one daughter, Jan Long (Dennis), and two grandsons, Brandon and Ryan Long. Herb is also survived by his brother Erwin (Juanette), and sister-in-law Patricia Meiske, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Elroy.
Celebration of life will be at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm, with visitation at noon, prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.
