The family of Irving Ansel Hamilton is saddened to announce his passing at the age of 96 years on the afternoon of October 21. We are also joyful that he has been called to our Heavenly Father. Irving was born to Frank and Myrtle Hamilton. He was the second of four siblings and was raised in Salina, Kansas. The family later moved to Wichita, Kansas where he met and married Marie Jeck in 1945. Together they raised 3 sons and 1 daughter. Irving worked at Boeing Aircraft Company for 35 years as an Aero-Engineer.
Irving and Marie retired to Austin, TX in 1985 and joined St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. They were very active in the life of their church as members of the Great Club where they formed lifelong friends.
Irving and Marie celebrated 71 years of marriage before Marie went to her eternal home in 2016. Irving is also preceded in death by his sister, Viona, and her husband, William Kouns; his brother, Weldon Hamilton and his wife, Jean; and his brother-in-law, Liborio Genova. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Genova; sons, Michael Hamilton and wife, Janice, Richard Craig Hamilton and Thomas Hamilton and wife, Dana; daughter, Cynthia Cash; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 13 nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his handyman skills; He built 3 homes in his lifetime. One was in Manhattan, Kansas. He was attending Kansas State University and needed a place to stay, so he enlisted the aid of his sister, Mary Ellen, and built the house that summer. The second home was in Wichita, Kansas; they needed a bigger home for a growing family. The third was closer in town to have school activities more accessible.
Most of all, friends and family will remember his sense of humor. He loved to tell jokes and draw silly pictures. We will treasure those pictures in the journals he left. We all know what advice he will be giving us as we remember him, “Keep a good thing going!"
