

Mr. Collins proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a former peace officer and a retired investigator for the State of Texas. He was also a member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge in Tyler and St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Austin.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Rosalie Collins. He is survived by his wife Helen of Austin; son Chance and wife Lourdes Collins of Austin; daughter Connie and husband Dave Walker of Athens; daughter Traci and husband Orlando Munoz of Houston; brother Herb and wife Linda Collins of Longview; sister Mary Byrne of Pecos; brother Charles Collins of Athens; and brother Donald and wife Daniella Collins of Athens. He is also survived by his six grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Seton Northwest Hospital and Austin Heart for their loving care and compassion. The Collins family also requests that contributions be made in James’ name to the American Cancer Society.
There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2010. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
