James A. Johnson, Jr. was born August 20, 1958. He departed this life on September 14, 2018. James received his education in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, which began his tech career at BMC Software for eighteen years.
James (lovingly known as Jim) dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Albuquerque. Later upon moving to Austin, he joined Promiseland Church, under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth Phillips. He faithfully served as a fifth grade Sunday School teacher, and an usher for 17 years.
James loved outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, boating, and traveling. Forming family reunions was one of his fondest activities.
Preceding James in death was his father, James Johnson, Sr.; mother, Marline Johnson; brother Phillip Carroll. He leaves to mourn his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Johnson; sons Marcus (Karen), Jonathan, two granddaughters, Amaiyah and Arianna; stepmother Janice Johnson. Siblings Judy (Nathaniel), Janice (Virgle), Pamela, Patrick (Anna), Patricia. Five brother-in-laws, seven sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends. James was a man after God’s own heart and will be forever missed.
A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2018 at Promiseland Church in Austin, Texas followed by a graveside service at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
