Went home to be with God on June 6, 2024, in the care of Sedona Trace Health and Wellness facility. Joan was born September 21, 1933, in Chicago Illinois to Mary Ann Drennon and James Holliday Sr., Joan is preceded in death with her parents Mr. and Mrs. James Holliday, Husband William Blair Perkins Sr., Brothers James Holliday Jr., Francis J Holliday, and Robert “Bobby” Holliday, Sister Glenola Holliday, Son William Blair Perkins Jr., Great - Grandson Timothy Hastings, Granddaughter Kimberly Perkins and two Great Nephews Timon D. Holliday and Tierr Holliday.
Joan professed her faith in Christ and united with Ebenezar Baptist Church in Evanston, IL. Where she was a member of the choir. She also song in the choir at Stone Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Putney, in Chicago IL.
She was wed in holy matrimony to William Blair Perkins Sr. on October 5, 1948, in Chicago IL, to their union eight children was born. She and her husband moved their family to Austin, TX September 7, 1968, where they started a new life for their family.
She joined Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Cornelius Bass were she song in the choir and then later moved her membership to St. James Missionary Baptist Church under Dr. B.W. Mcclindon.
Her hobbies were making candles, knitting blankets, crocheting dolls and playing cards. She also loved going to Las Vegas and Coushatta Casino to have some fun. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by five daughters Sandra, Brenda, Donna, Mayola (Billy) all of Austin, TX, Emma Nesbit of Chicago, IL and two sons Yevett and Larry Perkins of Austin, TX. Granny leaves to cherish her, a host of Grandchildren, Great Children, and Great-Great Grandchildren. A sister, Rosalee King(Charles) and a brother, Charles Holliday. Auntie Jo also leaves a host of Nieces and Nephews. Precious memories will forever linger with Joan Holliday Perkins loving family and friends.
