My Dad died in faith. He was very clear that he was fully trusting in the work of Christ to be accepted by God. He knew his failings and shortcomings and he made no excuses. He said to me, "I think it is 'my time'" and then, "The Lord's will be done." Hard for me to hear --but like music at the same time.

Waiting to slip out of this body and trusting Someone stronger than death itself to catch you... it the most amazing grace I have ever seen. What a grace to be able to trust in that place.

Marcie, JoAnne and David, How sad it was to hear of your dads passing. Yall will be in our prayers. I have some very special memories that Jack and I have experienced.They have covered many miles and many welding rods.I still own a 99 truck that he rigged out for me and after much arguing he welded a 6" plate on it with his name and date on it! I learn contentment when I look at your life. You always said, "There ain't a bump in the road." You were so, so happy with a simple life and that means a lot to me. Thank you for that example.

 "I set my alarm clock for your curfew. If you get home in time to shut it off, we don't have a problem." --Dad

His philosophy: "I'm not waiting up all evening to see if you will obey. I'm going to sleep."

It was shared at his memorial service that he recently killed two wild hogs with one bullet---and was lucky enough to have a witness.
My hero.

Dad was a Marine in the Korean War. He said he was the secret weapon that ended the war. His plane was on the way to Korea when they got the news that the war had ended. He says they heard he was coming and were scared of him.

When we were very young, we lived on a little farm. One night, I was awakened to see my father coming through the house in his boxer shorts, a Colt 45---in the holster strapped around his hips---and his cowboy hat on. His mission?? TO KILL THE POSSUM THAT WAS UNDER OUR KITCHEN SINK!!
