

John is survived by his children, son John D. Richardson and wife Debbie and daughter Mary Lee Hellman and husband David, all of Austin, Texas. John was especially proud of his grandchildren, Jennifer Carpenter and husband Charles of Liberty Hill, Texas, Dave Hellman and wife Mackenzie of Keller, Texas and Julie Clark and husband Dan of Liberty Hill, Texas. His greatest joy was his nine great-grandchildren, Charles, Kyndal, Justin and Colton Carpenter; Avery and Macy Hellman; Callie, JB, and Beau Clark. He also leaves behind one brother, James Richardson and wife Patricia of Frankfort, Kentucky and two nephews, Allen and Steven Richardson.
John joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and served through 1956. He was a member of the Strategic Air Command and served as a Staff Sgt. on the B29 and B36 as a gunner. After his time in the Air Force he returned to Frankfort, Kentucky and joined IBM. In 1968, he moved his family to Austin where he worked as a Design Test Engineer until his retirement in 1991.
While growing up in Frankfort he was a member of the First Christian Church and after moving to Austin was a member of Gateway Baptist Church until his passing.
“Dad was a family man and loved his family dearly, always lending a helping hand when needed.” The family would like to thank everyone for all their prayers, cards and love during his illness. We have peace knowing he is in the presence of our Lord Jesus and is reunited with his one true love, our mother, Ruby Richardson.
In lieu of flowers the family would like you to donate to any of these funds: Wounded Warrior Project; Lone Survivor Foundation or the 100 Club of Central Texas.
Visitation will be at Cook Walden /Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas, on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 12:00pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00pm.
