What do you say about a beautiful woman who has tirelessly served her family, friends, and community for all of her 78 blessed years. She humbly thinks of others first and fills needs way before her own. She is an incredible lady who makes others feel loved and welcomed.
Joyce Fay Farnsworth, born on December 18, 1945 in Brownfield, Texas, spent most of her young life in Snyder, Texas, graduating in 1964 from Snyder High School. From there, she pursued a career in nursing, wherein she completed nursing school in Snyder in the late 60's. She continued her nursing career for the next 35 years until she retired.
Joyce has an unmatched love for her dear parents, Bud and Lorraine Cartwright. That love carries over into her marriage of 50 years to her treasured husband, Floyd Farnsworth. They were married on August 10, 1973 in Lubbock, Texas. Floyd and Joyce have two cherished children, Chanda Pearson and Andrew Farnsworth, whom she loves immensely. Joyce holds a blessed gift of loving whom her children love as though they were her own and no doubt expresses that gift to her son-in-law, Greg, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie.
Her greatest delight will always be carrying the dearest title of Grammy with tender love for her grandchildren, Allison, Makenna, Adam, Aisley, Ella, Isaiah, and Zoe. Joyce is not only grand, but delights in the sweet title of Great-Grammy and Aunt Grammy with tender love for her great-grandson, Preston Farnsworth, and great-niece, Peyton Dudley.
Growing to the same beat of their mother's heart, Joyce adores and admires her twin sister, Janice Crowder. They are not only best friends but angels who fully protect one another. She holds beautifully close to her heart her niece Dawn (Steve) Dudley, whom she shared a sweet relationship beyond compare. She also remains close to her lovely nieces Alanna (Chris) Stansell and Deanna Stirling and her lovely great-nephew, Dale DeLisle.
She is also survived by her precious sister, Shirley Rodriquez, and nieces and nephew, Debbie, Cindy, and Ronnie. Her brothers-in-law, Robert Crowder, Bob Stirling, and James Nix. Her sister-in-law, Debbie (Steve) Lundgren. And many other dear nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Frank and Margie Farnsworth, and her precious sisters, Barbara (Alton) DeLisle and Linda Stirling. Her sister-in-law, Susan Nix. Her nephews Glen DeLisle and Gary DeLisle.
Joyce enjoys cooking and baking and often prepares extra pies, a variety of the same pies, or three versions of turkey dressing just so everyone has what they like. She often wears beautiful patterned blouses, topped off with perfectly matching pants and jewelry. Not many know that she is a talented artist enjoying sewing, crocheting, painting, and more. There isn’t a holiday that she doesn’t decorate or a card that she doesn’t send without confetti. She adores balloons, lollipops, and everything vibrant, fun, and festive. She has a fondness for fireworks, the beach, falling snow, a fireplace fire, iced tea, diet soda with peanuts, and red roses.
She lives on in our memories, the sun shining, birds singing, sunsets on the horizon, flowers and the trees, and everywhere we continue to journey. She is forever loved immensely and will be forever missed terribly. She rests now, free and flying high. She is perfect!
We celebrated this past Christmas together as a family and that's the memory she would want us to hold. So in lieu of a service, the family requests that you celebrate her wherever you are and in the way you remember her.
