Joyce (Felfe) Reed

Joyce (Felfe) Reed, age 78 of Austin passed away peacefully in her home in Leander on November 13, 2021. She was born on April 29, 1943 in Thorndale, Texas to parents Alvin Felfe and Alma (Lehman) Felfe. Joyce lived there until she married the love of her life, Don Wayne Reed on May 4, 1962 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, Texas. They celebrated 58 years of marriage together.

Don and Joyce were lifelong members of Hope Lutheran and Redeemer Lutheran in Austin. Joyce loved the farm she grew up on, cooking, sewing and the many organizations she volunteered in at her church. She loved going to church, playing sports, cooking Sunday dinners for her family, shopping, baking and decorating cakes for family and friends. Although she had a heart for all of those things, her real love and passion was being a wife, a mom and a grandmother. Family is what drove her and she made it look so easy and did it so well. Family vacations were a huge priority to her and Don. She loved being anywhere as long as it was with her family.

She was always so active, whether playing softball with her church friends and family or running around with her grandkids playing water balloon fights or making mud pies. She loved starting her day with the paper and coffee in her hand, up before anyone else and the last to bed. As an occupation she enjoyed managing in the school cafeteria at Mathews Elementary School and retired there April 2007 so she could travel with her sweetie pie, Don Reed. They both loved to travel and loved Texas, whether it was visiting the farm she grew up on, going to the coast, visiting her family or even a ballgame as long as they were together, it didn’t matter where they ended up.

Those left to cherish her memory; children: Dona Miller and husband Dan of Montgomery, Texas, DeAnn Massey and husband Tom of Friendswood, Texas, Walter Reed and wife Erica of Leander, Texas; Brother Curtis Felfe and wife Annette of Austin, Texas, Gilbert Felfe and wife Patricia of Taylor, Texas; grandchildren: Scott Miller and Fanny Vicente, Caden Miller, Mazlin Jordan and husband Aaron, Thomas Reed Massey, Ashly Edelen and husband Jeremy, Addison Reed, Alexander Reed; great-grandchildren: Parker Rain Miller and Grayson Bear Edelen as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A memorial service for both Joyce and her husband Don will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
