As I complete another first week back with lovable but difficult students... Kim I miss you.  Your mentorship was my lifeline as I learned to navigate the complicated world of special ed.  I miss you and your calming funny advice everyday.   I ask myself all the time 'what would Kim say?' and I smile as I would imagine us problem solving and laughing together about how much we could adore our sweet but challenging kiddos together.  I miss you and a day does not go by that I don't talk to you  in my classroom.   I love you and one day I will join your party up in heaven!  Till then... cheers my dear friend!

Kim impacted so many people in a good way.  The first time we met Kim, Kim drove all the way to San Marcos to meet our daughter, Angie.  On that first day, Kim and Jody worked with Angie hand in hand learning how to cross the street.  That day we knew we had to move to Pflugerville because we needed Kim in Angie's life.  Angie started in Brookhollow shorter after that day.  From there on there were good days and bad days but in the end Kim was so important to Angie and ourselves.   Kim made us feel like Angie was as important to her as she was to us.  Kim made herself available to so many students, parents and staff.  She was that important to so many people.

Even though she had a million things going on, working with so many kids, we would always hear one name, Zach.  Whether it was checking on Zach to make sure he did his homework, got home safely or just wanting to know how his day went, you hear the name Zach.  She was always so proud of her Zach, that Zach was doing so well in school, graduating from school and going to UT.  Later graduating from UT and getting married, Kim was so so proud of her Zach.  Even though she gave so much to everyone, Zach was hers.  She always had a smile when you heard the name Zach.  If you spent time with Kim, you knew who Zach was.  

We are so sorry for your lost.  Kim was taken too early but she is at peace now watching down on all of her kids and friends.  One thing for sure, she's watching on her Zach.    

My condolences to the family.  Kim will be missed.  I had the pleasure of meeting her when I started working in PFISD.  She was a great resource and  truly loved the kids!  Sending prayers of comfort and strength.  Love and Hugs.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of  your mom.  She was a wonderful teacher and mother.  She has touched the lives of so many.

Many fond memories of our times together; taking her canoeing on Mother's Day, scuba diving in Cozumel, and making you your favorite ribs on your birthday.

I will always remember her for her love for music, fun, food, animals, children, the color purple and most of all her son.  You could see the love in the expressions on her face.

she has always been so proud of you and can now look out for you from above.  She was a shooting star that burned out way too soon.  I will keep you and the whole family in my thoughts and prayers.




You were truly a heaven sent blessing! A beautiful soul, so passionate about helping & advocating for others. You taught me more then you may have ever known. My family & I are so blessed to have shared a chapter of life with you. You’re dedicated work & love will continue to shine through not only my son but so many other children that you, so passionately, cared for. May your beautiful soul rest in peace Miss Kim. Kim was my mentor Teacher at Brookhollow. She showed me the ropes on working with kids with autism and helped mold me in to the teacher I am today. We quickly became friends & enjoyed many good times together! She dedicated her life to making a difference in so many lives and was very passionate about behavior, behavior interventions and setting up students for success in all areas of their lives. This included going to students’ homes at all hours & weekends to ensure they generalized skills that were taught in her class! I watched her for many years make a huge impact for many many students and their families. She was one-a-kind and loved her students and her son more deeply than most! I loved her free spirit, her non-rule following ways, how she passionately served kids with autism, promoted autism awareness, produced so many plays at school to showcase the amazing-ness of kids with autism & their friends, eating her amazing cooking, & listening to how proud she was of her son Zach. She will forever live in all of us and our students we serve and have served in PFISD. 

Kim was the teacher who had noticed my son in his kindergarten class and started to help him and the rest is history.  She had found her calling, as her love and dedication to  students flowed from her.  She was instrumental in helping my son grow and develop from kindergarten all the way through the first year of high school.  We have lost a warm, caring soul who was a wonderful and inspiring teacher. She will be sorely missed.

 Kim was always willing to help and collaborate. I remember the first time I stepped on to her campus (Caldwell ES), I saw such a wonderful person working with extraordinary kids. When we collaborated to incorporate the direction the district was moving towards, Kim dove in with no questions asked. I truly enjoyed collaborating,  bouncing ideas and putting systems into place. She was very supportive in my transition back to the classroom, inviting me to her home to go over plans, materials and activities. There is no one like Kim. 

When my daughter (now 21) was in kindergarten, Kim saw in her a heart for children with disabilities. She asked me to give Amanda permission to be pulled from her kindergarten class a few times per week to play with the students in Kim's special needs class. As I watched the class and Kim work with these wonderful, fascinating children, I was also drawn in. Kim inspired me to change my path and devote a big part of my life to working with children with special needs. Kim never lost her fervor. She will always be an inspiration!

Your beautiful soul, bright blue eyes, and infectious laugh will be remembered always. Thank you for meeting us all where we were and helping us to grow. You taught so many students and adults how to love and respect everyone and to focus individual abilities. Peace and love to you, Zach, and your family and friends.
