Springfield, MA- Lula Mae (Atwood) Bartee, 85, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 2, 2013 at her home in Springfield.
Lula was born on August 27, 1927, in Austin, TX, a loving daughter of the late Sylvester and Myrtle (Williams) Atwood; she was a longtime resident of Phoenix, AZ, before moving to Springfield. Lula was raised and educated in Austin and graduated from Austin High School. She was a Nurse’s Aide for 15 years at Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa, AZ. Lula is survived by her loving children, Mary Ann Galos of Las Cruces, NM, Norma Lee Bartee- Mitchell of Springfield, MA, and James E. Bartee of Tampa, FL; her sister, Myrtle Robinson of Austin, TX; 4 cherished grandchildren, Robert Brandon Mitchell and Jeris Nelson Mitchell both of Springfield, MA, Lauren Williams of El Paso, TX, and Dylan Galos of Las Cruces, NM; 4 great grandchildren, Nalia Mitchell, Jordan, Jayden, and Janessa Williams.
