Margot A. Nightengale 96, passed away peacefully in her home in Austin, Texas. She was born February 26, 1920 in Hamburg, Germany. She, with her family, came from Germany to the United States when she was three years of age. She lived in New York at that time. In New York, Margot graduated from High School. She started working as a Clerk Typist/Accountant/Bookkeeper. She married Samuel Nightengale when she was twenty-five years old. Margot had three children. Bruce, Chris and Suzanne. She resided in Detroit, Michigan where many good friendships were formed. Margot also lived in Greenville, Michigan for a time. There she joined the Delphian club and her love for animals had her join the Humane society. She also volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program also in Greenville. Other states she lived in were Connecticut, Ohio, New Jersey and North Carolina before calling Texas her home. No matter where she lived, she always had good friends and spoke of them often. She loved cross stitching and quilting. She started off making bed quilts and later decided it was table runners and mug mats she preferred. She always enjoyed making these things for others. Margot loved to read, particularly books by Dick Francis. In the afternoon, I would find her reading a book and having tea. Her favorite flowers were Gerber Daisies. Margot was a very loving and giving mother and friend. She will be greatly missed. Margot is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Nightengale, three grandchildren, Patrick, Aiden and Austin Nightengale and two daughters- in- law, Laura and Jane Nightengale. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Nightengale and her two sons, Bruce and Chris Nightengale. Her memorial was held at the Merrilltown Lodge Activities Center in Austin, Texas, Saturday, November 5th from 1-3pm.
