Marvin Uno Arnhamn, age 92, of New Sweden, Texas passed away on October 15, 2022. He was born on November 3, 1929 to Uno and Mabel Arnhamn. Marvin was a graduate of Elgin High School. On September 30, 1950, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Dell Samuelson; they were married for seventy years. He was a man dedicated to his faith as he was a life-long member of New Sweden Lutheran Church. Marvin served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves for seven years. He then retired from the United States Postal Service in 1985 after twenty years as a rural mail carrier. He also farmed for over sixty years in the New Sweden Community.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; one sister, Dorothy Mae Arnhamn Romaine and brother-in-law, Johnny Romaine; brothers-in-law, Ray, David, and Harold Samuelson; sisters-in-law, Faye Waln Holzworth and Marilyn Samuelson.
Left behind to cherish Marvin’s legacy are his sons, Douglas Arnhamn and Stanley Arnhamn and his wife Joy; grandchildren, Nathan Arnhamn and his wife, Tiffany, Kristen Tumlinson and her husband, Justin, Karin Sladek and her husband, Kelby, Scott Arnhamn and Deanna Dailey; great grandchildren, Kase Tumlinson, Taylor Tumlinson, Jameson Arnhamn, Emmett Sladek, Adalynn Arnhamn, and Avery Wilson; sisters-in-law, Delphine and Glenda Samuelson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2022 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following beginning at 10:00 a.m. He will then be laid to rest in Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Marvin’s memory be given to New Sweden Lutheran Church, 12809 New Sweden Church Road in Manor, Texas 78653.
The family wants to extend their extreme gratitude to the staff of SPJST Senior Living in Taylor, Texas and Concho Hearts Hospice.
