Mary Elizabeth Armitage

Mary Elizabeth Armitage went home to meet her Lord on September 26, 2016 after a long illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Kissel, Autumn Glen, Mill Pond Health Campus, and Gentiva Hospice who all helped with her comfort and care as she transitioned from this life to her heavenly home.

Mary “Beth” Armitage was born July 11, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN and baptized there at the 31st Street Baptist Church. She attended Purdue University and Indiana University School of Nursing before working for Eli Lily Pharmaceutical Company. She married Fred A. Armitage Jr. on March 16, 1946. From that time to the present, her life and family have taken her to Dallas, TX, Tulsa, OK, Ogden, UT, Levittown, PA, Libertyville, IL, Austin, TX, and finally, Greencastle, IN.

Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1996 after 50 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter Susan Poor (Kathy Wilson), Kerrville, TX, and son Scott (Patricia) Armitage, Cloverdale, IN. Her grandchildren include Danielle (Glendon Jr.) Booth, Austin, TX, Craig (Meghan) Armitage, Greencastle, IN, Sarah (Dustin) Bond, Greencastle, IN, and Deborah (Ethan) French, Corydon, IN. She was also blessed by three great grandchildren, Dalton, Emma, and Alyson Booth, Austin, TX.

Mary Elizabeth will be greatly missed by the loved ones whose lives she touched. Mary loved her God, her family, her friends, and her country. Those who knew her saw a woman of great compassion and love who cared for others before herself. Your family will hold you in their hearts forever. Although we are sad with her passing, we are at peace to know she is now in eternal rest.

Funeral services will be on 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Entombment will follow at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
