Mary was born in Chicota, Texas, to parents Frank and Miriam Lyna Whitesides. She was a beloved daughter, a loving wife to Bill J. Stamps, and a wonderfully caring mother to Sheryl and Brad. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren – Patrick, Alicia, and Cara -- and greatgrandchildren, Isabella and Catalina; as well, her daughter-in-law, Suzann Stamps, and son-in-law, Howard Rosenfeld.
Mary accomplished much in her life and excelled in education. She graduated Valedictorian from her high school and attended East Texas State College where she earned a BA degree, a Master’s degree, and an Administrator’s Certificate. Over the years, Mary enjoyed working in various capacities – as a newsroom
assistant in a radio station, an elementary school teacher and administrator, a fashion model in Dallas, TX, and as one of the first testing coordinators in the early days of the national GED Program.
One of Mary’s friends recently remarked that she had an amazing ‘zest and vigor’ for life. Mary was a woman who exemplified Southern Charm – a true original. She had many varied interests and a passion for creating beauty. Mary was a talented artist, an involved community leader, a savvy businesswoman, and a
loyal friend.
Mary was an extremely generous person who gave freely of herself to others. Compassionate, loving and kind, Mary will be missed by all who knew her. Services are private for the immediate family.
