Mercedes Duran de Abarca

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and friend to many passed away on May 7, 2025 at the age of 93 in Round Rock, Texas. She was born on April 13, 1932 in San Lorenzo, San Vicente, El Salvador where she grew up.

Mercedes was a strong woman of faith, who loved God above everything. She was always willing to served at her Church when she was able to. Her beautiful, loving, kind and humble soul attracted people to her everywhere she went.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrosio de Jesus Abarca in 2016 and her daughter Felicita Del Carmen Portillo (Abarca) in 1993. She is survived by her daughters Marina Duran and Ana Licet Abarca and her sons Valentin Duran, Luis Alonzo Duran, Noe Abarca, Raul Abarca, Alberto Galileo Abarca, Moises Romeo Abarca, Manuel Abarca, sister Amanda Ponce, 21 grandchildren and 19 Great grandchildren.

A visitation for Mercedes will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A reception will occur Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
