Michael attended school at Northview Baptist Church in Austin and then moved to the Hutto School district in the third grade where he graduated from Hutto High School. Michael’s father’s love for all things mechanical and living in the Hutto area surrounded by trains, led Michael to develop a fascination for “planes, trains and automobiles” and trucks. He dedicated an entire bedroom in his home to his model train collection and attended numerous train shows with friends.
Mike’s first job after high school was working for the Fleet Operations Center of the Department of Public Safety. He later trained for his CDL and became a truck driver. Mike worked for several companies in the Austin, area, with the most recent being Texas Enterprise Inc. where he made many long lasting relationships.
Michael also developed a love for bowling and was very proud of his highest game of 243. Playing games with his Mom, Dad and Grandmother led his home to be filled with games people enjoy together like pool, darts, trains…. you name it. That love also carried over to Football as he was an avid lover of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.
His love for music led him to become an avid karaoke singer who enjoyed singing any type of music with his friends. One of his other hobbies was building and operating radio-controlled cars, helicopters and airplanes. In his spare time, Michael also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends.
When Michael would see squirrels, kittens, lizards, birds and any animal in general, he would capture a photo of them. Especially kittens.
As well, he developed a love and affection for Mexican food. We would ask that the next time you enjoy Mexican food you think of Michael.
Through all these interests, Michael developed many meaningful relationships that filled his life with joy.
Michael is survived by his mother, Phyllis Canon; brother, Hillery E. (Butch) Canon Jr, his wife Carolyn and their family; and sister, Sherry Lynn Canon Renfro and her husband Jim and their family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hillery E. Canon Sr.; maternal grandparents, Lillian and Ben Hilton; paternal grandparents, Allie Bessie and Bradley Earl Canon.
