Born on September 7, 1947, in the heart of San Antonio, Texas, Minerva was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. She pursued her dreams and obtained a BA degree, embarking on a fulfilling career at Merrill Lynch, where she dedicated a decade of her life. It was during this time that fate intervened, bringing her beloved soulmate and confidant, Andres Reyes, into her world. In 1972, they exchanged vows and embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship.
Minerva embraced her roles as a devoted wife, cherished sister, nurturing mother, and doting grandmother. Family was at the core of her being, and she reveled in creating treasured memories with her loved ones. Whether it was venturing to new destinations with her dear friends Pete and Delores or trying her luck at casinos alongside her cousin Henrietta, Minerva thrived on the joy of shared experiences. Her home radiated warmth, welcoming all with open arms, laughter, and a sense of belonging. The harmonious melodies of Tejano and Oldies tunes often filled the air, providing the soundtrack to countless heartfelt moments.
She leaves behind a void that can never be filled in the hearts of her husband of 51 years, Andres Reyes, as well as her brothers Rudy and Robert Garza. Minerva's legacy lives on through her sons: Andres Reyes Jr., Eddie Salazar and his wife Estella, and Fred Salazar, and his loving wife Raquel; her daughters: Patricia Palacio and her devoted husband Jesse, and Teri Guajardo and her adoring husband Antenor. She will be deeply missed by her grandson Cesar Salazar and his beloved wife Angel. Her absence will be felt by her 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her unwavering love and guidance.
Minerva now joins her mother Catherine Rangel and her sisters Viola Ponce, Linda Polendo, and Catherine Ortiz, her brother Alejandro Medina as well as her son Henry Salazar, in the embrace of eternal peace.
