

Myrna Joan Sickelka, the daughter of Hans William and Lucille (Tesch) Hurtig, was born on February 6, 1935 in Paullina, Iowa. She received her education at Zion Lutheran School in Paullina and later attended Paullina High School, graduating in 1952.
On April 27, 1956 she was united in marriage to Lester D. Sickelka in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived on a family farm near Gaza, Iowa for 29 years. In January 1985, the couple then moved to Round Rock, Texas. Myrna worked as an assistant manager for Revco Pharmacy and as a cashier at the Round Rock Hospital. Myrna's love in life was to spend time with her family. Myrna had a strong love for God, church, family, and friends.
Myrna passed away after a brief battle with cancer on November 27, 2011 at her home, reaching the age of 76. Myrna's memory will be cherished by her husband of 55 years, Lester Sickelka, of Round Rock, Texas and their daughter Joni and her husband Jeff Jensen of Round Rock, Texas; son, Ric Sickelka and wife Susie of Jarrell, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Brandon Jensen and wife Misty of Dickinson, Texas, Chad Jensen and wife Abby of Round Rock, Texas, Misty Andrews and husband Michael of Jarrell, Texas, and Mandy Luker of Ponca City, Oklahoma; great-granddaughters, Peyton Jensen, Amber Dube and her husband Chance Dube, and Allison Andrews; great-grandsons, Will Jensen and Matthew Andrews. Four brothers, Waldo of Paullina, Iowa; Don and his wife, LaDonna of Paullina, Iowa; Vern and his wife, Pam of Hewitt, Minnesota; and Rich of Bertha, Minnesota; four sisters; Audrey Underwood of Cherokee, Iowa; Jolene and her husband, Kenneth Specht of Paullina, Iowa; Marge Metheny of Alton, Iowa; and Pam and her husband, Pat Hill of Paullina, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Sheryl Rae and brothers Marlo and Loren.
A Visitation took place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. The Funeral Service was held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks.
