Peggy Gilbert , 85, of Porter, Texas passed away on April 11th, 2018. She was born December 26, 1932 to Henry and Ruth Gummelt and grew up in Rosebud, Texas, later completing her high school years at Austin High School in Austin, Texas.
She developed her love for art into a career as a professional Texas artist in 1976. She felt that a work of art should involve the total person. One should sense the smells, feel the warmth of the sun, enjoy
the fresh air and cold water and hear the wildlife. Peggy's illumination technique by capturing how light plays off the colors in nature, is the trademark of all her work, giving her paintings a refreshing aliveness
that pulls you right into her paintings. All of her paintings were signed with her artist signature PByars.
Preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Marvin Byars; husband, Bob Koehler and husband, Jerry Gilbert, her sister, Betty Richardson and brother William Gummelt.
