Pete Fink was born on May 2, 1964 in Ann Arbor, MI to his parents Sue and John. After his Father graduated from medical school they moved to North Carolina and lived on a naval base while his Father was in the service. In 1967 his family returned to Ann Arbor and welcomed his sister Karen. Pete graduated from Ann Arbor Huron High School where he loved being on the water polo and swim teams. In 1976 his family purchased their cottage in Traverse City. Through college Pete spent summers at the cottage outside swimming, water skiing and sailing. His first job was working at a cherry processing plant which encouraged him to become certified in water safety so that he could spend his college summers life guarding on Grand Traverse Bay.
After graduating from Central Michigan University in 1986 Pete worked in Holland and Troy, MI before making a big move to Houston, TX to enjoy warm weather all year long. A few years later circumstances led Pete to move to Austin. While Pete was unsure about starting over again this move ended up being the best thing. Austin is where Pete found his real home with the perfect balance of nature, lakes and change of seasons that he enjoyed from his childhood in Michigan matched with the beauty of the foothills and warm weather to wear shorts every day.
By day Pete was an IT Professional working in several development and leadership roles through his career. Pete’s true passion was photography. It was through photography that he found a beautiful new perspective of the world and the artist inside him. Pete’s photography focused on model headshots, pin up and an interest in how light interacted with objects.
Pete left this life on June 21, 2021 and will be missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.
