Aunt Phyllis was an amazing ray of sunlight to us.  We will miss her soft sweet voice, kind eyes, and beaming smile. I can imagine a joyful welcoming committee made up of my dad, Grandma Franny, Grandpa Merrill, Royston, and many, many others,  now celebrating with her. She always greeted us with great hospitality, grace, and love, whenever we got to spend time together.  I always felt comfortable and welcome.  I remember as a little girl that she, my Mom, Aunt Marilyn, and Grandma Franny regularly wrote letters to each other that we always looked forward to reading.  Sometimes it was one letter that they each added to and mailed it on to the next household.  The stories and information they shared were very entailed and not something we see too much of these days in writing.  She was continually interested in our lives out here in California, keeping up on what we were doing.  Even when I was in college, I remember a visit from my family, Grandma Franny, and your mom.  A few years ago I received a package from Aunt Phyllis containing items she knew I would like.  I think she may have been tidying up her things.  It really touched me that she thought of sending me some of her belongings.  One of my favorite passages is Galatians 5:22-23.  Aunt Phyllis glowed with these fruits of the spirit:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control.  We all benefited from the light of Jesus in her.  You are all in our prayers for the comfort that fond memories and the closeness of God can bring.  We love you, Judy and Mark

 I was privileged to know Phyllis, Royston, and Jeanie.  Dr. Royston Roberts, who died back in 1996, was a Professor of Chemistry at U.T.  I actually did some consulting work for Dr. Roberts on one of his large chemical analysis computer programs back in the early 90s.  It was fun to intersperse coding with music in our discussions.  Phyllis and Royston were very gracious and unpretentious people.  I was sorry to learn, after my return to the church choir 3 or 4, years ago that Phyllis was no longer able to participate.

My condolences to Jeanie and her family and friends.Time is so strange.
