Placido Rene Maldonado, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2018 at the age of 71, after bravely battling pancreatic cancer the last 7 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and “Nano” to his grandchildren.
Rene was born on May 20, 1947 to Placido Librado Maldonado and Lillie Amaya Maldonado in Kingsville, Texas. He married the love of his life, Eva Garcia, on September 4,1970. They were blessed with two children, Christina and Placido Rene, Jr. (P.R.). Rene and his family moved to Austin, where he worked as an avionic instrument technician with Castleberry Instruments and BF Goodrich. Rene was a craftsman and artist, drawn to endeavors that required knowledge, attention to detail and design. He adored his family and never missed an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, watching them proudly in various sports. People were drawn to Rene for his quick wit, warm personality and compassionate spirit.
Rene is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eva Maldonado; daughter, Christina Adams and husband, Todd; son, P.R. Maldonado and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Mason Maldonado, Ty Maldonado, Tévez Adams and Sebastian Adams; siblings, Hilda Leal and husband Valde, Graciela Wood and husband Michael, David Maldonado and wife Antonia, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved him dearly.
Rene is preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Placido Librado Maldonado. Pallbearers honoring Rene are Weston Hagerman, Efrain Lopez, Mason Maldonado, Gilbert Martinez, Mike Riley and Joseph Tayar.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary immediately following. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home with a graveside ceremony following.
