

Rada Lorene Moore, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, passed away on December 16, 2021 at the age of 96. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born on January 26, 1925 in St. Louis, MO as one of nine children. She married Elroy Moore on August 12, 1946, and they moved to Austin, TX soon thereafter. Rada and Elroy had 4 children, Steve, Dale, Diana, and Dennis. Rada worked for the Austin Independent School District as a cafeteria worker in 1961, and retired from AISD as a cafeteria manager in 1988. Rada was proud that she was retired from AISD longer than she worked for them.
Rada enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with family and friends, and spending time at the Baca Senior Center in Round Rock. She also enjoyed collecting any type of penguin and always enjoyed visiting the penguin exhibit at the St. Louis Zoo.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four children, Steve Elroy Moore (Nancy), Roger Dale Moore, Diana Lorene Moore, and Dennis Ray Moore (Connie), eleven grandchildren, Randy Moore (Jill), Andrea Wilson (David), Stephanie Moore, Kimberly Easley (Dennis), Jennifer Marsh, Lisa Crofoot, Chase’kua Moore, Gennet Baird, Cory Moore, Ben Moore (Rachel), and Will Moore, eighteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Another great-great-grandson is due in May of 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Newton and Beulah Ivorine Thorn and her eight siblings, one of whom was her twin brother Raymond Thorn. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Russell Lee Moore and Bradley Scott Moore.
She was very devoted to all of her family and especially loved meeting each grandchild, great grandchild, great-great grandchild as they were born. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rada’s memorial service will be on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Milwood Baptist Church, 12217 Cassady Drive, Austin, TX 78727. Immediately following the memorial service, there will be a time of visitation with family and friends, and a light lunch will be served. A short graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Cook-Waden/Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice in Rada’s memory.
