Ralph F. Thiele, age 88, a lifelong resident of Austin, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2011. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Thiele; father, Julius Paul Thiele; mother, Ernestine Frenzel; and a brother, Theo Thiele.
Mr. Thiele served his country proudly and honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 949th Field Artillery Battalion. An avid college football fan, he loved and enjoyed his U.T. Longhorns. Retired from the IRS after 33 years of service, Mr. Thiele was a member of St. Martins Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Mr. Thiele is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Koch and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Jason Koch, Austin Koch, Chad Koch, Cody Koch and wife Valerie; great-grandson, Cameron Koch; along with one son; Mart Rushing and wife Wanda. He is also survived by his beloved four-legged friend “Julie”.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Graveside services with military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
